“People are vastly complex, there is no way you can ignore this and define yourself as “just Pokemon.” Logically, you just can’t. Maybe we don’t know exactly who or what we are, but perhaps that is life: to define life itself. (Fancy philosophical recursion, I know.) In our lives, especially at this influential time of self definition, learning and exploring both the world and yourself—I believe—should be encouraged. If you love and are passionate about something—whether that’s Pokemon, music, interior design, reptilian psychology, or 17th century Bolivian history—that should be embraced. Love the experience of it all, no use beating yourself up.”

Your thoughts on pornography?

A

Eh, its not great. Most of it’s horrible, some ok, and rarely good. The way women are both treated and portrayed doesn’t work for me. If I ever am watching porn, I often find myself either spending more time finding a video I tolerate or laughing my ass off at the horrible titles and low production values.

Something I have noticed is the vastly changed representation of women. If you’ve watched porn, theres kind of only one type of girl: extremely fit, makeup applied to inhuman perfection, and no visible flaws. Basically fits right in with to the false portrayals by our good friends, society and the media. This isn’t to say that people like that don’t exist but rather, it ignores the whole range of people and how they actually look. Perhaps this is new in the industry. For example, I was amazed the other day when I looked up some vintage porn: there were imperfections! There was more skin and fat than the ungodly skinny that I’m supposed to find attractive! There was a mix of people that felt a lot more real to what people actually look like!It was amazing. (Not to mention the funky ass jazz that was in some of those videos, funky ass jazz is sweet.)

I find it notable that, recently, through sites and mentalities like tumblr, we are broadening our view on the human body. Now and here embracing your body—no matter size, imperfections, and otherwise what makes you unique—is encouraged and supported. I like this a lot and I think it carries into porn on this site. Though tumblr porn has a range, I’ve noticed that it is more inclusive and accepting of actual people. Photos and gifs are often nice. Also, there seems a more artsy aspect to some tumblr porn, I like that as well. I like this site, I like us all.

America’s racial divide is older than the republic itself, a central fault line that has shaped the nation’s history. This month it has manifested itself in sometimes violent protests in Ferguson, Mo., after a police killing of an unarmed young black man. The resonance of that event is related to deeper racial fissures between blacks and whites; that divide is the reason that the events in Ferguson amount to something bigger than a local crime story.

What is the state of that larger divide? In what areas has there been meaningful progress toward shared prosperity over the last generation, and in what areas is America as polarized by race as ever — or even more so?

Across a broad range of economic and demographic indicators, the data paint a largely depressing picture. Five decades past the era of legal segregation, a chasm remains between black and white Americans – and in some important respects it’s as wide as ever.

The unemployment gap is virtually unchanged over the last 40 years. The income and wealth gaps have actually widened. So has the gap in educational attainment.

There are bright spots, including a rising number of blacks in executive and managerial jobs (not to mention top political jobs) and converging levels of life expectancy. But by most measures, black and white Americans are still living in radically different societies – and there is no reason to believe that will change anytime soon.

Many other gaps – between men and women, between non-Hispanics and Hispanics – have shrunk substantially over the last few decades. But the black-white racial divide remains as central to American life as it has been for centuries.

Let’s look at the numbers:

Through economic booms and busts, the unemployment rate has been persistently higher for African-Americans than for whites across the decades.

Cash raised for killer Mo. cop now surpasses Michael Brown donationsAugust 24, 2014
Online fundraisers for Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson surpassed the amount of money raised for Michael Brown’s family as the officer’s supporters gathered at an afternoon rally Saturday.
Supporters of Wilson, the police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., came toBarney’s Sports Pub in south St. Louis.
"Many of us have received death threats toward ourselves and our families," said one speaker, wearing sunglasses, paint beneath her eyes and a baseball cap. "We will not hide. We will no longer live in fear … If you support Darren Wilson, make your voices heard."
She refused to give the media her name, saying “You want my name? I am Darren Wilson. We are Darren Wilson.
The media has shown a strong bias against Wilson supporters, the speaker said, drawing loud applause from the crowd.
"We share the united belief that officer Wilson’s actions on Aug. 9 were warranted and justified and he has our unwavering support," the woman said.
A crowd-funding page created for Wilson raised $235,010 from 5,902 people before organizers stopped accepting donations Friday after surpassing their goal of $100,000 in four days. The group then opened a new fundraising page, which already has more than $104,000.
This amount surpasses the more than $214,000 raised in support of the Michael Brown Memorial Fund. According to the page, which was set up by Brown family lawyer Benjamin Crump, “the funds will assist his family with costs that they will acquire as they seek justice on Michael’s behalf.”
The Support Darren Wilson group, which has more than 58,000 likes on Facebook, encouraged supporters who could not attend the rally to “blow up some Twitter accounts” with photos of supporters and the hashtag #‎iamdarrenwilson.

Disheartening (though unsurprising) and thoroughly disgusting!

So if u support #iamdarrenwilson u r saying u r a murdering coward police officer. This whoa is me mentality his supporters have is sickening. This man showed Mike Brown no respect no decency no innocent until proven guilty nothing. Mike Brown because he was a black male was guilty as charged for being from the hood and black. So they r receiving death threats so what. This boy parents have to bury him tmmrw. So miss me with the bs.

I don’t give a damn how scared these murder apologists are because it’s their core beliefs that have ultimately led up to the Mike Browns, Ezel Fords and Rekia Boyds dying in the damn streets. To hell with them, Darren Wilson is on paid leave which means he still has a job, money, freedom. He hasn’t been arrested and charged, so there are no legal fees to see about, so his evil ass doesn’t need any money !

Do you know how much I would know about what’s happening in Ferguson if it wasn’t for social media? Nothing. Zero.

Ditto.

Jokes aside I feel like we all need to take a minute to thank the people on the streets literally risking their lives bringing us this information with their cell phone video cameras. Furgeson is on media lockdown right now and without the people braving tear gas to bring us this information we’d all be in the dark.
